Trip Overview

Pikey Peak is an ideal destination to enjoy a majestic view of the Himalayan Panorama yet avoiding the crowd. This trek is famous for Sunrise and sunset and the view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Makalu, Kanchenjungha, Gaurishankar, and many other high mountains. A number of Buddhist monasteries, Old Sherpa Villages and their lifestyle as well as Rhododendron, Magnolia and Wild orchids are the highlights of this trek.

The trek starts with a scenic drive to Bhandar on Araniko highway and walks toward Ngur Village en route to reach Pikey Peak, the main destination of the trip. We then trek to Junbesi and explore centuries-old Thuptenchholing Gompa ( Monastery) and finally trek to Phaplu and take Jeep back to Kathmandu to end our trip.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,396 m.)

Upon your arrival, proceed to the outside of airport terminal, our representative will wait for you to take you to the hotel which taking around 20 minutes. Please look for your name which will be shown on signage. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Drive from Kathmandu – Junbesi (2,932m)

we started our journey with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Junbesi. We drive on the banks of the pristine Sunkoshi River. You can experience the verdant landscapes of the hillside, including the terraced farmed hills, majestic rivers, and the lush forests.You can also observe the typical lifestyle of the Nepalese people setting up shops along the highway. We finally arrive at the Junbesi after a drive of some hours. There you explore the local market and the vibrant atmosphere around the place. You will stay overnight at a lodge in Junbesi

Day 03: Trek from Junbesi to Lamjura (35 00 m)

After an early breakfast, we observe the spectacular mountain vista from the local viewpoint. We start our trek journey on a dusty trail which then turns into an uphill path up until Bhulbhule.The trail then becomes steeper and narrower as we climb the forests of rhododendron and fir trees. After a trek of a few hours, we arrive at the small settlement of Lhamuje. We stay overnight at a lodge in Lhamuje.

Day 04: Trek From Lamjura – Pikey Peak Base Camp ( 3640m)

After an early breakfast, we continue our trek leaving Lhamuje, as the trail becomes wider and follows a yak grazing pasture. We continue walking on the rough terrain as we can find long Mani Walls along the path.We finally ascend the winding zig-zag roads to arrive the stunning Pikey peak base camp. From the Pikey Peak View Point, you can observe the several snow capped mountains of the Himalayas including Mt Everest, Thamserku, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Kantega, and others. You can visit the Yak Cheese Factory for some cheese tasting and observe the awe-inspiring view of the snow-capped mountains. We will stay overnight at the Pikey Peak Base Camp.

Day 05: Trek To Jhapre (2,8300m)

Today, After breakfast, we enjoy the mountain vista for one last time and capture the beautiful scenic beauty on our cameras. We then start our descent on a return trek from pikey peak base camp. We trek through the rough terrain passing through rhododendron forests and the small settlement of Lhamuje. We arrive at the bumpy roads to Jhapre. The trail can get taxing especially for first-time trekkers. We finally arrive at Jhapre after a trek of some hours. We will stay overnight at a lodge in Jhapre.

Day 06: Trek To Dhap

Today is the last day of the trek. After breakfast, we start our trek to Dhap from Jhapre. We continue our trek on a bumpy road form Jhapre. The trail leads us to great vantage points along the path where we stop to observe the majestic views of the mountains and take some pictures. After arriving at Sigane, the trail turns dusty until we arrive at Dhap. We stay overnight at a lodge in Dhap.

Day 07: Drive Back – Kathmandu

After breakfast, Drive Back to Kathmandu by Jeep.In the evening, join a farewell dinner hosted by Adventure Great Himalaya to celebrate the successful completion of the trek.

Day 8: Departure from Nepal

Our representative will transfer you to Kathmandu International Airport for your way back to your country.

In Kathmandu, we will accommodate you at Hotel Sapana Garden, and at local lodges during the trek on twin sharing basis. Hotel in Kathmandu comes with private bathroom , however in mountain, toilet and shower will be on sharing basis. In the busy months, (October/November & April/ May) you may have to share the room with other traveler as some villages have
limited number of local lodges .

About Meal You can enjoy typical Nepali food as well as continental , Italian, Indian and Tibetan. Dinner and breakfast serve at the tea house where we stay and lunch will be served on the way to next destination. In Kathmandu only breakfast is provided. If you are a vegetarian or vegan, no worries, Nepal is such a easy place to get several vegetarian options.

About Staff:
A Guide assist you from Kathmandu to Kathmandu. In a group with more than 8 clients, 2 guide will be provided. Porter will join in Lukla. A porter provided for 2 trekkers, and carries between 15 to 20 K.G.

About Equipments
Following Equipment list is recommended to bring for Everest Base Camp Trek
Down Sleeping Bag, Down Jacket, Long sleeved shirt, Jumper or fleecy jacket, T – shirts, Trekking shoes or boots, Comfy shoes for around the camp, thick and warm woolen socks, Light cotton socks , A day bag to carry your valuable, Sun hat, Woolen hat, Gloves, rain coat, Sun block, lip balm , Goggles or sunglasses, Long underwear, Thermal wear, Nylon windbreaker, Nylon wind pants, Water bottle, Sewing kit, Medical & first aid kit, Flash light, Batteries and bulbs, Swiss army knife, Towel and toiletries etc.

Physical Fitness and experience
Pikey Peak Trek is a moderate which is fit for those who has the ability to walk 5-6 hours ups and down in a day carrying own day bag. Some days are even longer with 7- 8 hours of walking. Pikey Peak Trek is high altitude trek which demands more physical fitness,however if you are strongly determined and have excellent health and average physical fitness can complete this trek. Few weeks prior to the trip, doing some physical exercise is better . No technical skill is needed however past experience also helps . If you are taking medicine for heart, lung or for blood diseases, please kindly consult your doctor and inform to Acon Travels

About Insurance
You have to obtain the travel insurance which should cover emergency evacuation and medical expenses. Some Insurance policy’s cover only up to 4000 meter, so please kindly confirm with the insurance company before your purchase it.

About Seasons
Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November) are the best months for Pikey Peak Trek. You can do it in winter (December to February )if you are used to with extreme cold temperature.

About Lukla Flight
It is very difficult to predict the weather in mountain. Because of bad weather, the flight between Kathmandu to Lukla may be delayed or canceled for a day or more. Due to the weather changes in Himalaya, we can face such problem even in good season. So we would like to request you to add few days extra in Kathmandu. If you complete your trip smoothly, then you can enjoy your time with other activities like sightseeing, White water rafting. Jungle activities or more.
